I heard about this on Stern a few years ago. Must've been a different student doing the same report. Damn kids, stealing each others ideas.

I used to frequent fast food joints at least once a week for years, but now I avoid them at all costs. Not really a health issue, or the fear of the ice. Somewhere along the line the price didn't seem to equal the return. It used to be cheap and easy, but became just easy. You could get a meal at a chain restaurant for about the same price and get better quality. I guess if you stick to the dollar menu, you can still get a good deal. But those value meals aren't much of a value as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, I kinda knew about this years ago, which is why I avoid putting ice in my drink.   I usually try to avoid soft drinks at fast food joints because sometimes they don't mix it well enough and the soda always tastes diluted.  This always happens whenever I go to the Costco and buy their hot dog and drink combo (costs only $1.50).  The drink always tastes funny.

On those dollar menus, I think McDonalds took a couple of items off and just raised the prices on items like small fries so they're not as good as they used to be.

I think Americans are just way too hyper-sensitive to germs and being clean. Look, life is dirty. You have to develop an immunity to some of it. Don't worry about it so much.

You also can get worm that burrows into your brain and skills you if you eat shrimp. Ate it all my life, and i'm still here.

One of my housemates in college used to ask for "no ice" at McDonald's.  Though it wasn't because of the toilet water quality of the ice.  He argued that they put too much ice in the drink and without it, you get more soda.  The guy was a real soda freak.  I mean, he would go through a 6 pack a day at least.  We made fun of him for his no ice rule.  Turns out, the joke is on us.  We were chewing away on those toilet water cubes, and he was enjoying more soda at the same time.  Who knew? 16

Yeah the whole hand sanitizer bit in America has gotten pretty out of hand, that stuff is going to Make you more sick than Prevent you from being sick

I don't use hand sanitizer or get a flu shot for that matter, and haven't been sick in over 2 years

Now if I could only get a carnivorous brain drain worm 'round mid terms, i'd be set.

I agree with some people being way too germaphobic, but the people who go the other way are far worse in my opinion.  The amount of people that use the bathroom and don't wash their hands afterwards is staggering, and sickening at the same time.  Sorry if I just described anyone here (as I'm sure I did), but seriously.  Wash your hands after you handle your junk.  It's really not that hard.  Takes like 10 seconds.

Actually, for it to be a quality hand wash you need 20 seconds more. 13

Trust me, I'd settle for 10 seconds over nothing at all.  Hell, like Jerry Seinfeld said, "at least turn on the water and pretend like your washing your hands for my benefit".  Or something along those lines.  People are disgusting. 4
