Re: 11-10-2012 - The Joint, Las Vegas, NV
1) I want the London show for Izzy and 14 Years -- thanks
2) I don't see a live album being an option for this band in the current state. I think a more realistic option is that a live album/DVD is being produced to be apart of a Deluxe Edition of the new all-new GN'R album.
And yes i'm being serious. I mean why go through the money and effort for live shit, when no one buys that stuff anymore, plus you'd be climbing uphill trying to market this band with the Guns N' Roses thing? The only reason I see it existing beyond being a download on GNR.com is to be a bonus on the next album's rollout.
I'll take the Super Deluxe Edition w/ new album disc, bonus disc with demos and cut tracks/covers, GN'R Live in Vegas audio CD's, GN'R Live in London DVD, and "the classics re-recorded" feat. the current band on GN'R hits.
Now THAT's being a fanboy!
You ain't kidding! I would buy that in a heartbeat.
Re: 11-10-2012 - The Joint, Las Vegas, NV
I just wondered over to htgth and saw that Jarmo posted this:
"The broadcast sounded amazing because it was mixed by Caram, the sound guy for the band.
You might recognize the name from your Chinese booklet. He knows what a GN'R show should sound like.
/jarmo"
y'know, a lot of the time i can ignore the sycophants & megalomaniacs surrounding this band, but every so often they depress me w/their condescension & bullfuckingshit.
how in holy hell should caram costanzo know what a GnR show is supposed to sound like, just cause he helped record CD over a bucketful of yrs? it makes no fucking sense, given how CD was recorded & produced.
no offence to the guy, he's obv a decent producer & has recorded some bands live & indeed some bands' live performances.
but this just seems like a cheap attempt at writing something positive (& by default, it's an admission that prev GnR shows have sounded crap, tho i'm sure jarmo wouldn't have admitted so previously) &, more dangerously, re-writing his role in CD & how CD came about.
from what i can tell, caram has ZERO experience in mixing a GnR live show.
Re: 11-10-2012 - The Joint, Las Vegas, NV
You know, that's a shame, really...
I was a frequent viewer of HTGTH back in 97/98 alongside Dust N'Bones mailing list (that the founder, Jeff Boerio, got invited by Axl to listen to demos in the studio around this period but never "sold out") and Jarmo was really fun to discuss things with, without an agenda. He'd even discuss the other guys solo work and music anyway...
Then the change happened.. It's a shame but I don't know.. Perhaps he's doing it to get access and money off of GN'R or he got access to Axl version and believed it. I don'judge the guy, I just think it's so unclear that it leaves a lot of room for speculation (as everything GNR).

Back in the day, I rarely even remember jarmo discussing GN'R all that much. Whenever arguments broke out I hardly ever remember him getting involved. And he never came across as a rabid fan. He did love talking about Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, though. And when IRS leaked wide, someone asked him what his opinion was and he said, "I didn't hate it." Oh, how times have changed.

Re: 11-10-2012 - The Joint, Las Vegas, NV
Thing is I don't begrudge him the privileges or whatever he obviously gets from GNR now, for a GNR fan who set up a fan site in his bedroom in the late 90's it's a dream come true. What always bothered me (and still would if I ever went there anymore, I'm sure) is the God complex he developed when he got on the 'inside'. People who'd posted at his site for years and gave it the traffic that made GNR take notice of it in the first place were being jumped on and banned for voicing their opinion which had been welcomed for so long. Anyone who didn't tow the new party line was ridiculed for questioning anything because they didn't know the 'facts' and worst of all were then told that the site had always been run that way.
Thank god for GnrEvo eh?
Re: 11-10-2012 - The Joint, Las Vegas, NV
Yeah! GNREvo is the only place I engage in conversations and I feel good enough about voicing my opinions.
The other places are just shitty compared to here. Even on the Dust N'Bones Mailing List, which is still active - sort of - I feel like it's not worth the effort to make a stand.
Re: 11-10-2012 - The Joint, Las Vegas, NV
Caram was at a few shows last year. And according to MSL's emails, he not only (co)produced and engineered the next album, he mixed it himself.
i'm unconvinced - specifically with what this has to do w/his being able to mix the band live any better than someone equally qualified.
as far as i'm aware, CD's tracks weren't recorded live, in that the band wasn't in the room doing the songs in the same take.
i don't understand how it's supposed to be his work w/the band translates into his being better than everyone else @ mixing them during a live show.
it's not actually a big deal, really. i just got tired of the condescension & hype from a hypocrite bottomfeeder. it'll happen, unfortunately. so it goes.
