Re: Hear Chinese Democracy On Vinyl!
OK, I'm listening to 15-20 seconds of TWAT, switching between your wav and my upload to the Amazon Cloud. Other than the artifacts of a record being played, I'm not getting any noticeable difference. I've got both at a decent volume through inexpensive over ear USB headphones though, so maybe I'm not set up for it.
I'll try the others later- thanks for the amount of effort you've put into this Russ. BTW, have you compared these to the CD, or even against the album? Do you notice a difference?

Re: Hear Chinese Democracy On Vinyl!
Having a listen to TWAT now. Will be interested to compare more of them when I get a tic.
I'm not sure yet. I'd like to listen to it more to give a real opinion. Part of the problem is I realised doing this I've not listened to CD on headphones for bit (usually have it cranked in the car or my lounge room) and headphones always gives me a much stronger sense of the stereo space and other details. So i'm not sure if i'm noticing things from the vinyl master or just the phones at first.
At first glance so to speak I can tell it's at least subtly different - I think it's slightly quieter...which interestingly is making my brain focus on the drumming less and more on some of the guitar tones.
Another thing that merits some discussion I think might be that the benefits of vinyl might vary depending on the recording procedure. Like stuff like that Billy Idol thing would have been recorded to an analogue source initially yes? But I wonder if an album like chinese was recorded digitally in first instance? So perhaps the vinyl is made from a digital source - which would inherently change some of the way the sound is happening too.
Interesting project for sure. Thanks for doing it Russ.
