Worried about richie, it isnt bon jovi without him

I never knew that. As huge a fan as I was (and am again), I never really understood the band dynamic til I watched When We Were Beautiful. Totally agreed on Richie, though. I wouldn't want any of them to leave tbh. I still can't believe Alec could ever have fucked up enough to get kicked of that train.

Is there a good biography on the band that you'd recommend? I suppose even just Jon would be good too.

There are a few on Amazon if you search "Bon Jovi".  I've only read one and I would NOT recommended it, it's Bon Jovi In Their Own Words.  The description sounded good, it's their history in their own words, but the author arranged all the quotes to show how the band has contradicted itself over the years.  It read like the author was going out of their way to make the band look bad.

I'm reading more and more articles that suggest this is a personal dispute, with money being at least a factor. Crazy, if true, how that type of agreement can be contentious so many years into a band's life. Especially one with a single lineup- it's not like Motley Crue/VH/Sabbath, where guys have quit/been fired and then they get back together. Other than Alec, there's only been one Bon Jovi, and they never even officially gave Hugh Alec's job.

Is This The End For Richie Sambora And Bon Jovi?
He’s Jon Bon Jovi’s trusted lieutenant, a guitarist who can claim almost as much credit for one of the commercially successful heavy rock bands of all time as its bouffant haired front man. Richie Sambora has a pretty justified reputation as being one of rock’s good guys, with not just his solid playing for Bon Jovi, but also the countless good deeds he’s done for charities around the globe, including Dream Street, The Steve Young Forever Young Foundation and Michael J Fox’s Parkinson’s disease foundation; his commitment to those he supports has been with awards and rightly so. He’s a force for good.

Yet sadly Sambora also has another side, one weak to the dangerous advances of alcohol and drugs. Sambora is thankfully aware enough fellow to check these problems in when they become too much, having checked into rehab twice in both 2007 and 2011. Unfortunately though the guitarist seems to suffer from a problem that won’t go away.

"Due to personal issues, Richie Sambora will not be performing on this upcoming leg. All shows will go on as scheduled," said a statement on the band's website on Wednesday, tersely. There were no details on why he’d left Bon Jovi’s current tour, though some sources have suggested a tension between him and his front man. Hopefully it isn’t down to a relapse, you really hope that it isn’t. It’s believed that Jon Bon Jovi has constantly belittled Sambora, whose so far dutifully kept up with him, but perhaps things have gotten to a head. Yahoo has reported there could be money issues between the pair as well, although both have been coy on the exact reasoning.

What’s clear is that the split by Sambora from the group is troubling in terms of the band, because even his past issues have never caused him to take a break without anything other than support from the rest of the band. The frosty nature of Bon Jovi’s reaction to the announcement (shouting “I had two choices: pack up and go home or give you everything I got ... Richie Sambora won't be performing for a while. If there's ever a night I need you, it's tonight, Calgary!" to his audience there,) posits that maybe this time that one of them’s gone too far. Whether the reason comes to light, though, or not, there are two worrying upshots. One that Sambora may be done with Bon Jovie – and they are surely a worse band without him than with – and two, if he does leave the band who’ve been such a vital part of his life for almost three decades, he could return to the sadder side and that this time he might not be able to keep a check on it.

You know, I've been suspecting something was up for a while.

Back when Low Down came out, Richie was just getting started on a promotional tour, and it got cut short because Jon wanted to tour with the band and put out the new CD.  I also read that when Jon was doing his solo tracks on the Stand Up Guys Soundtrack, he wanted to do more songs but they decided to go with a other artists.

So I suspected that setting the dates for "Because We Can" so soon was prompted by jealousy on Jon's part because his solo thing didn't go the way he would have liked plus Richie's album was getting some critical acclaim.

Sambora ‘pushed’ off tour

Richie Sambora didn’t jump — he was pushed, sources say. The hard-partying Bon Jovi guitarist left the band over “personal issues,” the group announced on its Web site this week. He was replaced at Tuesday night’s show in Calgary, Canada, by Theofilos “Phil X” Xenidis, who also filled in during Sambora’s second stint in rehab in 2011. “Jon [Bon Jovi] has been trying to get rid of him. He drinks constantly and has a stream of Hollywood bimbos around all the time,” one insider said. At the urging of his wife, Dorothea, Bon Jovi wants to keep the tour free of booze and drugs. But Sambora is apparently no longer striving for sobriety. “He told me that he didn’t believe in rehab,” said our source. “He really is a hard partier, and so are the women he hangs out with.” Sambora might also be depressed over the lackluster sales of his latest solo album, “Aftermath of the Lowdown,” on which he was said to have spent $1 million of his own. He also lost several million dollars in his failed clothing company, White Trash Beautiful.

Booze and Hollywood bimbo's, sounds like Richie is being kicked out for being to awesome for Bon Jovi.  16

Seriously though, hope this is all tabloid BS, it would be sad for Richie to have fallen off the wagon again.

But I've also been thinking, a break up may not be so bad.  Both Richie's album, and Jon's solo track on the Knock Around Guys soundtrack, where better than the last Bon Jovi album imo.  This might be a case in which the band is worth less than the sum of its parts.

Word. Richie might not get as big of a fan base, but he'll get the critical acclaim. It'll make for an interesting rivalry.

I really liked Jon's last solo album, Destination Anywhere. Lyrically I thinks it's on par with These Days, musically it's my favorite 90's alternative album. I played it for some of my nümetal head friends back in the day, and we were all surprised to find they liked it. 16

If Jon were to go solo, I see him as an artist like Bowie. I see him changing with the latest fashion, while still being himself.

I really think he has that potential, he's already done it successfully with his last two solo albums. Which makes me think these reports are BS. This band wouldn't exist if Jon didn't like making music with Richie and the boys.
