YEah I absoultely believe this is the year now. I dont believe Axl would have responded to this, if not. How often does he respond to anything? Usually they'll just have the offending thread deleted from HTGTH, or a quick one line about the rumor. THis made it all the way to the official website. This has gotten me excited again. I cant believe it...

i agree that we should not get our hopes up too much just yet but this is different.
you are comparing "finishing touches" and "a tentative release date" to an alledged promotional campaign for an album that has been confirmed complete by atleast three band sources.

I've got nagging doubts, occording to people who've called DP this has leaked early and the main promotion was to come out in a few days, which of course could land us right around April 1st. So I'm not going to get my hopes up but there's a lot going for this.
I'm assuming since this news began to break GNR have made contact with DP just to check what the score was, and I'm guessing if it was a joke GNR wouldn't come out and have Axl comment etc if it's just a wind up. A few people have made the good point that given the 'challenge' DP has set GNR it would be a bit stupid to admit the two camps were in league with each other as it defeats the point of 'will CD come out?'. If this is a promo campaign for CD the it makes sense for GNR to act unknowing for now.
I just don't see GNR commenting and almost encouraging this if they weren't involved somehow.
If this is all DP's idea and GNR were unaware they need to jump on board now, this kind of exposure won't come round again, CNN, front pages of national papers. GNR need to grasp this opportunity with both hands. GNR and the label were supposedly arguing over a promo campaign, well here you are guys they don't get much bigger than this. Incidentally does anyone else find that a bit overly coincidental, GNR and the label are rumoured to be in disagreement on a marketing campaign, then a couple of months later GNR appear to be 'accidentally' in the middle of potentially the biggest album marketing campaign in years?
I won't get carried away just yet but this looks really promising.

It looks promising sure and even if it's 100 percent legit by Axl's comments GNR was not aware of this as he put they are suprised about this. It would be perfect for them to jump on this and release it so that DP can forefill this "challenge"
If GNR doesn't can't blame GNR because this wasn't their idea, if it's true but I doubt it will make this album come out any sooner as Axl is on his own timetable.

if it's an april fool's hoax it's a very very elaborate one.
if it's for real then chinese democracy will be out this year. and i say that just based on the involvement of dr. pepper. until now it was only about gnr and people made fun of the band and the band only. they can't afford to drag a third party in this game and then axl can just say no, i don't want to release it or something like that. dr. pepper i am damn sure covered their asses in case of anything and gnr will be touring 100 years to pay dr. pepper if the cd is not out.
and just so people don't ask, this is not the same as the harley ad. there was no press release there, just a new track on the background of a new commercial that never aired. now we're talking of something of a much bigger scale.
hope it is true but until april 1st goes by i'm not getting excited, and not even after that. i'll wait for an official cover and tracklist.
