An update from MSL, no less.
Heard another thing the other day that I thought was interesting. We already knew that publishing issues had been holding up the Vegas DVD. That info came directly from somebody in Rock Fuel. We'd speculated that the problems may have been with some of the cover songs played during the show.
However, now I'm hearing that the publishing issue actually had to do with getting Slash and Duff to sign off on the release. So that was the big hold up. You can't sync the classic songs to video without their permission. It just sucks all around for GNR fans because the GNR songs were cut from the Velvet Revolver DVD, the second Velvet Revolver DVD wasn't even released in the US, Slash's DVD couldn't be released in the US, the GNR songs were cut from Slash's bonus DVD, and now GNR's Vegas DVD has been delayed repeatedly.
Hopefully we still get it at some point. I thought the trailer looked awesome.
AFAIK, the publishing rights on older Guns songs are divided between Slash, Duff and Uni (who bought out Sanctuary, to whom Axl licensed his rights to years back). If true, karma has been biting Axl in the ass big time as of late.

Hasn't this been going on for years all the way back to WTTJ on Black Hawk Down? There should be a deal made where they release a proper Live DVD UYI set and documentary (Axl doesn't even have to be involved) and allow him his Vegas DVD release, or whatever.
I'm more pissed about keeping all that UYI shit in the vault than anything new. And I'd like some new line up DVD's. It's just silly.

Which makes sense as to why Axl wanted to re-record all of the classic songs with the new band, and only use those to license for films and such.
I can't blame Slash & Duff one bit. They wrote those songs and should be treated as the writers, no different than Axl. If they don't want their material getting used on an Axl & Izzy-version of new Guns, I don't blame them, no different than say Axl & Izzy balking at Slash & Myles doing GN'R songs on his live stuff.
In the end the fans get screwed, but honestly if these hold ups will continue to exist for Axl, it's all the more reason for him to go into a studio and fucking bury them with his best material yet, so the new Guns can play mostly new songs. That way the next release comes, they only have to go to Slash & Duff to sign off on maybe 4-5 songs, rather than 20.

news will be coming right after the new year re theatrical release, broadcast and dvd release dates. obviously there were delays, but were told all has been sorted out. happy holidays....don't blame the messenger....peace .

Wait and see. I kinda feel like they have said this before. If it happens I'll be interested in seeing it. I dont think a theater release is gonna take off though. I don't see it having much success here in America.

As long as they get the DVD/Blu Ray to come out with a great sound mix and the visual presentation is alright. It's fine with me. Glad to hear some good news coming from RockFuel. Maybe we get some bonus stuff with the DVD that was agreed on by management, perhaps? Don't really know. Let's hope that something works out after the next couple weeks.

Britney Spears just began her two-year residency in Vegas and this write-up raises some curious similarities between her and Red, as well as illustrating the theme-park nature of it all.
At 32, with more than two decades of performing under her belt, Ms. Spears has already arrived at the laurel-resting portion of her career, landing in a greatest-hits production so winning that it barely needs her at all. Mostly, she’s a pinball during the 90-minute extravaganza “Britney: Piece of Me,” her new residency at the Axis Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino here that had its debut on Friday. Magical things are happening all around her — ornate sets, clever video displays, fiery dancing — but Ms. Spears is there mostly to activate memories, to be a souvenir for the eyes. Rarely did the voice booming out over the speakers appear to be coming directly from Ms. Spears’s mouth. Always a notch or three less committed than her backup dancers, she was at times downright listless.
Maybe Ax sings for himself, but coasting's been an issue there, too.
She may have the name recognition of a global superstar, but not the drawing power she had even a few years ago. Performing here, in this 4,600-seat hall, is a relatively low-risk proposition, and doesn’t demand that she extend her relevance... This is also a transitional moment for Las Vegas, a town becoming less reliant on older-audience-skewing musical revues and leaning more heavily on nightclubs. Ms. Spears’s show is a midpoint between the then and now, a legacy act with cross-generational appeal offering a show that might as well have been run by a D.J. (This newly renovated theater, too, is a hybrid, with two standing-room pits and a row of V.I.P. bottle-service tables abutting the stage’s lip.)
If Guns doesn't fit the bill just as well, I wouldn't know what does. Little wonder they're doing it again - the money's there with the least necessary effort.

I just don't understand how Whitesnake can put out live shit like 3 times a year, ad naseum, but with GN'R... this cocksucker still isn't out. And based on the snippets, Axl vocally ain't that good. Maybe that was the hesistation?
The Vegas concerts were trainwrecks vocally for Axl. I suspect there will be some kind of touch ups, hell makeover at this point, but I would not release these shows as they were heard.
