Re: sp1at thread
I definitely think Axl is a huge fan of Bucket's. They've tried to get him back more times then we probably even know, and the treatment of Ron by the band pretty much says it all. "This guy won't be around for long, so don't get used to him". I just get that overall feeling.
What stuns me is with Ron's medical problems, plus his vocal criticism of the dynamics of business in GN'R, i'm shocked somebody else wasn't called before the 2009-10 tour. Then Ron spoke of, well if Ron's not doing it, then Axl's not doing it, which is kinda stand up, but what's the overall point of it all?
I have full belief that DJ Ashba is there to write with Axl if and when the time comes. The rest of the band already has. Ron? Seems to be on the outside looking in.
Is he waiting for Bucket? I'm sure he'd take Bucket back in a second, at a high cost. I think Robin & Bucket inspire him, and maybe even DJ even though when haven't heard anything from him. Axl paling around with DJ and DJ saying "he's played me this, he's played me that", is definitely a man that has at least kicked the tires on new music with certain people he likes.
I personally am half hard right now thinking of a Guns N' Roses album with Axl vocals/lyrics, DJ radio melodies, Bucket melodic Padmasana solos, with Richard in the background waiting to Slash it up when they need him to.
Pretty bad ass hybrid of GN'R if you ask me.
Yeah, as much as I'd like to see Robin Finck return, and as much as I detest Ashba, I appreciate that the guy is very talented at writing commercial rock hits. So a combination of Ashba writing and Buckethead bringing the crazy shred would probably be the band's best hope for commercial success. And given their shared interest in horror movies, Ashba and Buckethead would probably get on like a house on fire.

I hate to say it, again , but I do have a feeling that Axl tries to "wait" people out. Get them so fed up they quit, which may go back to a contractual thing. If I were Axl I would get John Lasseter on the phone and get permission for Bucket to make the Disney cover album he's been dreaming about doing... if he rejoins guns. If Robin isn't coming back, I like theidea of just having Bucket and Richard... Richard impressed me the most during that last tour.

I could totally see DJ loving the shit out of working with Bucket, if not the two of them running off and doing their own work together.
That version of the lineup would seriously fucking kill if they could make it cohesive.
They've have all they need, think about it...
Axl brings old rock + new rock leadership with a love of avant-garde and ambient ethos to rock
DJ brings a modern radio sensibility, and simplification to the whole process. The guy has a GREAT ear for what works and what doesn't, I wouldn't mind him producing the fucker.
Bucket is mother fucking Bucket; he can do anything and brings something STILL totally original to the project, plus plays right into Axl & DJ's wheelhouse as artists
Richard has a throwback Slash/Joe Perry quality for when they DO want to do those throwback Guns songs
Tommy brings true, hall of famer definition of punk to the process for when they want to do radio-ready or alternative sounding music
Frank is a "do anything" drummer, and easily the most talented guy they've ever had back there
Dizzy brings an old school keyboardist mentality to the process, that of the Stones and old rock
Chris brings a new school keyboardist mentality for those "horror-rich" projects that Axl, DJ & Bucket will adore
That group right there, literally can cut ANY fucking album they desire. Or a mixture of all rock styles. They've got it all... but only if the fatass puts down the PS4 for five seconds and remembers he's Axl "Goddamn Eisenberg" fuckin' Rose.
Re: sp1at thread
Good to see you JR! Unfortunately, Axl isn't going to do shit....firmly convinced of this. He will tour and make some cash to help support the band and their families and his hangers on. It's over as far as I am concerned. Of course, I would love to hear the unreleased Chinese stuff but that seems like it won't happen either. I am just going old school now watching vids from 85-91...holy shit...real deal.

Re: sp1at thread
oh yeah, and fuck all the 14 guitarists...he needs to write with Tommy f'n Stinson if he wants to take it back old school....Tommy, Richard, Ax, Dizzy, Frank could make a killer album on their own.
Y'know what I really want to see? Duff, Fortus and Tommy doing an album together. Axl can come in and do guest backing vocals on one track, or something.

Good to see you too man. Long time. Miss the good 'ol days about 4-5 years ago when this place was hopping, but then again we had... hope. And I agree, I think the guy is done. And honestly, based on the music industry I see today, I can't say as if I blame him. Rock is dead, REAL fuckin' dead, and even all the people that beat off to Alter Bridge and Avenged Sevenfold albums... we've all heard it before. Neither of the two is exactly breaking down walls in terms of popular music. Rock has became a niche genre. How the fuck did that happen?
Somehow in the mix of it all, Eminem found a way to record his best album in years, and basically the Rihanna track is the only thing that got played. Katy Perry, seriously, we have to have me destroy that argument again? It's about pop now, and whatever can sell to the masses to such a degree, that the industry is terrified to take a chance. Guns N' Roses is WAY too fuckin' big of a brand name, to revert GN'R tracks to Soundcloud, and Axl already knows there's basically no money in albums. So hey, go off and find a smaller label like Frontiers or something that will give you artistic freedom, and you can record what you want. Too bad Universal won't let him do that, not now, not ever.
I probably forgive the guy more now, than before. Even if he wanted to record, I think he's screwed. He's older, more tired, wasted his prime, and the industry has changed so much to a point that to make it, even with his mammoth brand name, will require work with people he can't fucking stand to deal with, whether it's him or Team Brazil. It's nasty for all involved. He's stuck one way or another.
The best he could ever hope for is dropping non-album singles, or maybe the occasional EP. It's an entirely different landscape today, and it takes motivation. I think some of his Tweets were promising, not weird! If Axl Rose gets pissed off enough about something--he'll write. I'm telling you. Right now he doesn't feel he has anything to prove, because this generation of music consumers, as well as the business simply are too busy looking in the mirror to care about what's going on beyond it.
Then again maybe he likes chicken wings and porn?

I actually like that Monster song....always thought Eminem and Ax were cut out of the same cloth.
But seriously, I'd love to hear a collaboration between the two of them.
