Life is fucking hard. Life is not fair. That said, hard work and attitude go a loooong fucking way no matter what people here want to say. Yes there are exceptions that no matter what anyone does they stay poor but for the most part in 2016 all the tools are there for you to support yourself.
1) Stay away from drugs
2) Stay out of jail
3) Stay away from booze
4) Seize that opportunity when it knocks
5) Choose your friends wiselyNow, you can't help the brain you are born with or your family conditions. But in life you will likely find a mentor in a teacher, a football coach, a preacher. There is a level of will one must possess to break the fuck out of the ghetto or the hills of Kentucky/West Virginia. And often the family may not want you too. It is probably harder to bust out of the poor rural areas than the inner city I would suspect. But anyway, it all can and has been done. It just doesn't happen near enough as we would like because life is hard as fuck and our economy sucks.
This is the thinking of a Trumper who hires illegal immigrants. 
We can always solve the poverty problem the Michigan way. Look at Flint, the governor literally took over the town, fired all the elected officials, put in his own people, and poisoned the poor's water supply. Not investing in education. Not starting a public outreach. He literally poisoned the people.

Its not common to just break out. You have plenty of obstacles, especially with a school system thats cut beyond repair where there are no sports team or coach to help you, or outreach progams, etc. Not everyone in poor communities are crack users or sellers, you know?

Marijuana use amount poor black teenage males is probably 60% if not higher. There are Catholic Schools in poor black areas that spit out kids to college every year. Stop telling everyone it is impossible. There are people doing it every day. They have a priest, a coach, etc that helps them. Because most don't have a Dad.

It is not common for many reasons. I am not black. I don't have all the answers. It has been this way for decades. It was not like this in the 50's.... The federal government has some responsibility in this as well.

I am sick of hearing the liberal talking points from white people on how the struggles are real with blacks. It is fucked up. There are many issues. But at some point the individual must make that decision for themselves. Oh well. Bernie will fix all this I am sure! Just like Obama did. Lol.
