I'm a big fan of Angie Harmon but if this show doesn't change course near the end of the season or the start of season 3, I'm gonna quit watching it.

It needs to revamp itself and be more like Law & Order: Criminal Intent was in its first few seasons.

I don't think that's going to happen.  It just got renewed for a 3rd season and I don't think they are probably going to be deviating from the format of the first two years.  It's too bad really because I think they could get out of the standard cop drama that they've set up for the show.

Oh well, I can always watch the TNT reruns of Law and Order from the seasons which Harmon was on.  It's too bad she got pregnant otherwise she could have stayed on for a few more years and spared me the agony of watching Elisabeth Rohm act.

Yeah I know it was a pipe dream. The show has a good cast and it really sells itself short with all this lost potential. Every episode I watch I spend half the time picking out flaws and thinking of simple things that would vastly improve it.

One thing that irritated me this season was the newly found sense of humor of Isles. Just wasn't believable after how serious and technical she was the first season.

The season finale blew. I had a feeling it was gonna be about that serial killer obsessed with her from the first season and rolled my eyes when I realized I was right. The way the final showdown between them was handled in the hospital was comical. Also the fact Rizzoli's brother is gonna be a detective next season makes me want to vomit. Rizzoli and the two other detectives have good chemistry and that is going to fuck it up big time and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them is cut loose before season 3 starts filming or is killed in the 1st or 2nd episode.

One other thing.....

I always forget this show is based on a series of novels which were popular so that may explain why the show stays on this path. I've never read the books so maybe they do not want to deviate from that formula. The show has high ratings and that probably has more to do with fans of the books than it does fans of Angie Harmon, so a change in format could cause the show to lose that audience.

I'm going to try to watch this at some point.  I think they have the S3 premiere and the episode on back to back next week.  I really wish that TNT ran a marathon of this show so I could catch up.

To be honest though, I've been kinda spoiled by foreign tv series (specifically the police procedural) I've been watching lately.  The US has nothing on the Europeans on that genre.  Anyone watch Bron/Broen (aka The Bridge)?  Fantanstic series.  Too bad you have to torrent it as it hasn't been shown in the US at all.

They're putting this show out of its misery this summer. I kept watching but its been brutal since actor Lee Thompson Young killed himself a couple years ago. Season 5 was unwatchable and it almost got the boot....the continued good ratings, likely from people like me sticking it out for Harmon, literally what kept it afloat. The series creators even bailed out on the show at the time.

Funny seeing my old posts complaining about it. The first few seasons are incredible compared to the last two. The show doesn't even know what it wants to be anymore....I honestly don't think it ever did. The past two seasons there are some episodes where the crime is just an afterthought and about 10-15 minutes devoted to the crime while they focus on family or relationship bullshit.

I cant believe this series will have made it 7 seasons when its over. Holy hell.

Re: Rizzoli and Isles

Watching every Monday here in France.

I absolutely love Angie.

She is beautiful, she can act and she has a real comical talent.

Being a woman, I hit on many hints and references that only women can pick on.

And it makes me laugh a lot.

Rizzoli and Isles is def a second degree and full of tenderness and fun.

I love it.

Wow. Another fan. 16 Interesting how popular this show is(according to TNT) yet I don't know anyone who watches it. I just checked wiki for its statistics and they're not good. I can see why they are killing it. 1st season had a 7.5....this past season a 4.3 and the season finale(a major cliffhanger) a 2.9. In the key demographic it went from a 2.1 to an 0.7

Wow. 18

It lost half its general fans and 2/3 of the 18-49 demo. It still has good ratings but not good enough to be considered TNT's big enchilada. The story is just played out. There's nothing left for these characters to do. I'm gonna watch this final season but I have a feeling they are going to focus even more than usual on the non crime aspect of the show. After we find out what happened in that final shooting IMO they will focus on getting Jane in a relationship, maybe leading to marriage and will wrap up the other personal storylines.

I said it years ago but I wish they had changed course with the series and went in the direction of L&O: Criminal Intent. It had a great cast and could've pulled it off. They played it too safe with the series and weren't willing to take chances.

I rewatched a couple episodes a few nights ago. Season one feels like a completely different series than this last season.

While I complained about the family subplots from day one, I hate how they dropped Jane's brother Tommy and his baby out of the storyline as if he didn't even exist. They focused on that for a couple seasons, even to the point of Tommy getting his act together with Lydia and Jane, Maura, etc. doting on the baby and then boom!.....they're gone.

I also thought it was interesting how the lieutenant from the first half of the series vanished and Vince took his place. Other than adding the black chick in Barry's spot they tried streamlining the cast. This would have been the perfect time to switch gears a bit.
