Re: EURO 2016 Thread
Too many teams, so many pointless matches to play in the next few weeks.
UEFA were greedy. Multiple 3rd placed teams going through to the next stage, just lessens the excitement. I don't think the media has talked about it being in theory possible to qualify with 1 point. It's much more exciting with 16 teams and at least 1 (if not 2) group of deaths were 3 top sides get drawn together.
I don't think Germany will do a Spain here and Spain won't win again for a while. France gave up when they dropped Benzema, but they'll still get a nice run.
If Bale goes for it, I really wouldn't be shocked if Wales topped the group with England coming 2nd. England I think are out first time they play a top team again.
Portugal as dark horses for me, especially if Ronaldo is fit and goes for it in probably his last major tournament before serious decline.

Re: EURO 2016 Thread
Portugal are average without him but he is good enough to win the tournament for Portugal single handed. International honours are the only thing that eludes him.
They've promised for a few years but Belgium could go very far in this tournament if Hazard, De Bruyne and Lukaku fancy it.
England will flatter to deceive as always, although probably make it out of the group. Then lose probably on penalties in the last 16 or quarters to an Italy or Germany.
Re: EURO 2016 Thread
David DeGea sent home from Spain EURO squad for being involved in sex scandal.

Re: EURO 2016 Thread
Woke up just before the 2nd half.
Not one of the most exciting second halfs ever, but France again... can probably lose their next 2 games 5-0 and still go through thanks to that 3rd place rule.
I doubt the TV commentary mentioned it, but congrats anyway France and good luck in the last 16.
Also, it wouldn't be a football tournament without the English rioting and disturbing the locals.
Re: EURO 2016 Thread
You missed a cracker in the first. So many big goal scoring chances.
Openers tend to be cautious, so this was definitely an A game. France had some amazing attacking play before they lost confidence. Pogba and Payet could be the big players in this tournament. Romania was also good, but impotent in attack. Their biggest chance apart from the penalty was a corner. Worked very hard though, if France had done the same they would have wrapped up the game in the first half.
If this sets the tone it's going to be a great cup.
Re: EURO 2016 Thread
If it wasn't for the referendum, England should be kicked out off the tournament, given a ban and stripped off the 2020 finals.
They just had to go for it, before they even played a game. Yet our media pretends it's the Europeans that are the problem...

Re: EURO 2016 Thread
Always a few idiots who spoil it for everyone else, expulsion from the comp and removal of hosting rights is a bit knee jerk though. Arrest the offenders and ban them, simple.
In fairness England fans haven't been involved in any real trouble since France 98. Must be something about the french that brings it out in us
Re: EURO 2016 Thread
In fairness the Marseille pigs haven't held back. It's almost like some of them welcomed the English fans a little too eagerly.. It's no coincidence this city is a flashpoint, & especially with the history already there.
But yea it couldn't have come at a worse time for the referendum. So it goes. Maybe when they whop Russia tonight it'll brighten the mood..
+ the Welsh fans will bring out the best in the English, get them to wise the bap..
Oh hamsik!!
