Who all will show up in Winterfell??

Sansa's Cousin's army that Littlefinger offered in the beginning of the season?
The Tully army sent by Jamie?
Brienne and Pod
Ayra

Little finger will show up. I doubt the Tully's will seeing they made the deal to hand over their arms and are under the rule of the Freys. To show what a fanboy I am, I'm genuinely nervous that Jon will be killed again when I know that won't happen. 16

I'm way more interested if The Hound and Brotherhood Without Banners shows up.

Why would Jamie be be stupid enough to send the Tully army to join up with the Starks? The entire series has been the Starks vs. the Lannisters.

Arya will be randomly tele-port some where half around the world by the end of the season, but it's not going to be Winterfell. Even the writers aren't that bad (almost though). The same goes for Brienne, at least next episode (I think).

The fact that no one cares about the Siege of Mereen, shows how badly the show has handled it. In the show I guess Danny will just release her Dragons and the Iron Born will show up before it really gets going.

Well, Jamie and Brienne clearly like each other a lot. What will the Tully army do at the river lands? Hang out with Jamie???? Maybe he helps Brienne because he cares for her??

Arya said she is headed to Winterfell, and the show has no issue sending little finger around the world in one day.

The Dragons won't destroy the ships because Danny needs the ships however Theon and his Sister may arrive soon!

I think Dany will be losing only for the Theon and his sister to arrive and save the day.

Agree though this attack on mereen is a little out of left field. Certainly not been built up as well as Blackwater or Castle Black or even Jon v Ramsey.

Varys is the X factor here. He shows up when Danny leaves and leaves right before she returns. This whole time I thought he was a good guy, but could he be a double crosser? He was to keep the Targaryians out of he throne and protect the realm whatever that is. Hmmmm. Maybe he knows Snow is back and that changes his opinion of Dany? R+L=J?

Varys has either;

A:

Hidden Text:

went to Dorne to get them to work with Danny.

or

B:

Hidden Text:

will kill Pycelle/Kevan like he does right at the end of the books with his little birds.. the kids. It's possible though they might give this to Qyburn in the show. Either way both are dead.

Varys is a villain in the books with a very different agenda, just like Littlefinger. However show Varys seems to show up more for comic relieve and stupid scenes with Tyrion. They departed massively from his book character after the earlier seasons... Varys big play is so drasticilly different that I'm not even going to type it out.

Damn, I am a pretty good observer for someone that never read the books!!

I disagree that Varys is a villain.  Littlefinger seems to thrive on chaos and no one knows his end game, but Varys is more than likely a Blackfyre, as is Aegon.  As Deamon Blackfyre was the bastard child of two Targaryens and was given the Targaryen Valyrian Steel sword, Blackfyre, by King Aegon the 5th before he was legitimized, the Blackfyre's have just as much of a claim to the throne as Danerys, Jon or Stannis.

Furthermore, Varys told the Mad King not to trust Tywin and that Rhaegar was attempting to create a great council to overthrow Aerys.  Not the kind of behavior you'd expect from someone who was working against the Crown.

It's specifically mentioned by the same character that it was the only time Aerys should have listened to Varys. It's suggested Varys was the one who fed into Aerys madness.

Varys probably already knew Aerys was fucked at that point.

"The glass candles are burning. Soon comes the pale mare, and after her the others. Kraken and dark flame, lion and griffin, the sun's son and the mummer's dragon. Trust none of them. Remember the Undying. Beware the perfumed seneschal."

Aegon is definitely the mummer's dragon. He likely is a Blackfyre, but the only question I have is whether he's aware of it himself or not.

Either way, Varys isn't on Danny's side in the books and I don't think either Euron's big play or The Others factor into it. That said I don't view Danny as a "hero" in the books.

Littlefinger is definitely more intriguing though, but alot smarter in the books (ignoring the exposition speech to Sansa on the boat in the 3rd book which is Basically George RR letting readers know what's actually been going on).

Re: HBO's A Game of Thrones

Varys is by no means a "good guy", he cuts out the tongues of his little birds.  But outside of Ned, Jon and Robb, I don't know if there are any good characters in the books/show.  And the 3 I just mentioned could certainly be called "bad guys" from other characters point of view.  That's what is so compelling about Martin's story, and why I get so irritated when the show fucks it up for reasons I can't understand.  Like why has the show refused to follow Jamie's character arc?

I don't think the Targaryen's are the good people, so I fully expect Dany to become a villain of sorts.  The First Men and Starks defeated the Others long before Valyria existed.
