Well he'll probably still be the first player to 100 goals in the Champions League, but people remember these tournaments more.

Well he's still one of the best players ever, but people will remember messi more (& more fondly).
He's actually one of the few football superstars who has been so dislikable. I actually can't think of any other, at his level, who could compare..

This is the point of the tournament where the matches actually start to matter for most of the teams.
3rd place thing is a bit weird. I hope it doesn't lead to multiple teams playing for draws with both happy that they'll go threw. Except for Germany/Northern Ireland of course

So if we finish 3rd it's still possible to play England or France next stage?
With Portugal or Wales also possible if we finish in a different position. Pretty hard to predict a route to the final currently, even if we can predict most of the teams that'll progress.

Yes, depends on the other groups.
That's the good thing about the system, every team still has something to play for. It has been very cautious up to now, but also tight. Not really any minnows getting beat easily every game. The knockouts are shaping up to become very good as all the favorites have met expectations and will likely advance as group winners. Should make for some classic matchups down the line, and those are the games we remember.
