Re: Triple murder-suicide over father's will
Boarding school girl, 15, her aunt and a family friend die in 'murder-suicide' in America's 42nd richest zip code 'following dispute over her father's will after he died of lung cancer'
A teenage girl has been found dead in an apparent triple murder-suicide at her father's home in one of America's wealthiest towns, just months after he died from cancer.
Hannah Arya, 15, the daughter of real estate broker Michael Arya, was one of three women discovered at the property in Rancho Santa Fe, California on Monday, according to local news station CBS8.
Her father had passed away from lung cancer just a few months earlier.
Mia Shin, 56, a Los Angeles real estate agent and family friend and Sayeh Amini - Hannah's aunt and Michael Arya's sister - were identified as the other victims by CBS 8.
A family friend told the station earlier this year that a family row had erupted between Hannah Arya and her aunt Amini over Michael Arya's will following his death.
Detectives have not revealed a motive for the killings or a cause of death but said they are not looking for any other suspects indicating it was a murder-suicide.
Autopsies are expected to be completed Wednesday. Police have not officially confirmed the identities of any of the three killed in the apparent murder-suicide.
Deputies were responding to a report of possible child abuse at the house in the 17100 block of Via de la Valle and made the grim discovery around noon, Monday, according to Lt. Kenn Nelson of the San Diego Sheriff's Department.
Nelson said deputies spotted the body of one of the women through a window and decided to enter, finding the other two bodies in separate rooms.
He added that it was 'unclear how the three died' but said they had each suffered 'obvious trauma'.
Hannah Arya was a 'well-respected' student at the Verde Valley School in Sedona, Arizona, where she was taking equestrian studies.
She had left the boarding school half way through the academic year to spend time with her dying father.
The pair appeared to be close and just last week, she posted a picture of herself with her dad on Instagram with the caption: 'Happy Father's Day! I miss you more and more every day.'
Hannah Arya's mother Susan Wagner, of Oregon, who is divorced from Michael, said that she was '100% certain (her daughter) is with Jesus.'
Amini, who grew up and went to school in Tehran, Iran, was living in San Diego, California before her death. Mia Shin, from LA, was a successful real estate agent and even ran her own company, Mia Shin Inc.
After starting her real estate career by working in Rancho Santa Fe, she branched out to the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles Westside, Heavy reports.
The bodies of all three were found at the property, which was bought by Michael Arya, 58, in 2014 and valued at $1.3 million, according to property records.
Michael had been living there with his Russian girlfriend Marina Ryzhkova who was caring for him as his condition declined. But following his death, she moved back to Russia and was not among the three victims on Monday.
The home is now owned by the Michael Arya Revocable Living Trust and it is not clear if it has been left to his daughter.
Cyrus Moinzaeh, a man who said he was a close friend of the homeowner, told NBC 7: 'I'm like lost and I am shocked at the same time. I don't have names and faces. I don't even know who is in there.'
Moinzaeh said that Arya died two months ago and that the person now living there was Arya's girlfriend.
He added: 'There were maybe some arguments about how he split the estate. He wanted to give the girlfriend a little bit more than the daughter.'
Neighbors told ABC 10 that the house had been sold recently and the deaths may the result of a dispute over who was allowed to live there.
Neighbor Angela Bissett told 10News: 'I heard just a couple of times, yelling.
'First, I heard the woman, "Don't. Don't." Then, the other said, "You son of a b****." Pop, I heard two times.'
One neighbor, Maureen Sage, said she didn't hear an alarm go off or any screams.
Meanwhile another neighbor Linda Keehan told the station: 'I am always cautious. I make sure if I am alone, my doors are locked, my windows are locked. You you never know.'
Today, friends and family have been paying tribute to the teen.
Leyla Kaya said she was 'speechless and heartbroken' by the loss.
'My Hananbanana was like a niece and she was so excited for her future,' she wrote on Facebook. 'She was beautiful, beyond intelligent and a little prodigy of her father, my friend, who passed a couple months ago
'Mia Shin, I recently had the opportunity to spend time with her and she was so excited about a new 70 million dollar project she got. She was a very talented, successful, wonderful woman. This is so horrible.'
Hannah's mother Susan Wagner said her daughter was with Jesus, in a message on Wednesday to right wing political commentator Dinesh D'Souza saying Hannah had idolized him.
Our daughter Hannah Arya loved your work. She was 15 and she passed away two days ago in an unexpected tragic accident.
'Thank you for your book, it will always be with me, because on the way to the airport before she died, she was reading to me in the car. Your work matters.'
