Re: Rumor: Axl and Slash at same hotel in NYC?
Yeah... on the three guitarists thing, it struck me that a Fortus/Slash/Kushner line-up might work. Neither of them is in any danger of overshadowing Slash, but Fortus could do all the shredding and Kushner could make the weird experimental noises. And it'd maintain the VR/GN'R balance in the band.
I dunno, I guess I just think Bumblefoot doesn't quite fit as Fortus in a classic-style GN'R. I love the guy - Normal's one of my favourite records - but he doesn't quite have the right vibe.
i don't like bumblefoot and agree with you. but axl obviously does so i am just trying to figure out what may happen with you. gotta run to work - take care man. TTL.
Re: Rumor: Axl and Slash at same hotel in NYC?
Today, April 22nd 2008, Axl Rose and Axl Rose alone is Guns N' Roses. There are no members and there is no one under contract. It is Axl and Axl alone that is negotiating the agreement to release a new Gnr cd. A CD that has literally been in the works since 1994 with over a dozen musicians involved at some point. I now don't give a shit who shows up and tours after a cd is released. I am not even sure I care if they tour at all. Give me the CD first, and then I can form an opinion as to who should be in the band. Give me Chinese Democracy or Give me Death!:haha:
I always use this Geffen statement from the GH lawsuit...simple and to the point. As of May 1st 1998, Axl and only Axl is Gnr.
"In the other May 1, 1998 amendment, see Hoffman Decl. Ex. A, Axl Rose agreed, among other things, to deliver that new studio LP (which was even then long overdue under the Recording Agreement) no later than March 1, 1999 and received a substantial advance from Geffen in return. Hence, although other individuals have joined Axl Rose in performing under the name 'Guns N' Roses' since 1998, Rose is the only principal in the band. Id."
ps 5-1-98 is the formal day that Duff and Slash contractually left Gnr in the eyes of the recording agreement and Geffen.
Re: Rumor: Axl and Slash at same hotel in NYC?
he can always get back together with the old guys, and release CD under his "solo" banner....that way, he won't damage anyone's perceptions of anything, and still will have the "new-old" GNR to fall back on if the album flops...then again, would the old guys be comfortable with playing any of his new material is up for debate...
madagas, where the fuck do you live....i'm on the end of 23rd April....in a few hours it will be the 24th.....and you're on the 22nd still?
Re: Rumor: Axl and Slash at same hotel in NYC?
Atlanta, Georgia in the US...a good bit away from you!
The funny thing that no one realizes is that if Slash was to come back...he would not be a member anymore. He would be a contracted employee at this point because Axl owns the name. They would have to start a whole new recording agreement and business partnership if a full on reunion were to happen.
Re: Rumor: Axl and Slash at same hotel in NYC?
Well, Jarmo said that it didn't happen.
I know what people think about the guy, but I wouldn't exactly doubt him.
Re: Rumor: Axl and Slash at same hotel in NYC?
Jarmo also refused to admit Robin had left until GnR made an announcement, when eeryone knew damn well he was in NIN....
that being said i still dont think this story is true...i'm just saying that everywhere you look there is some kinda spin on gnr news and/or rumors
Re: Rumor: Axl and Slash at same hotel in NYC?
I know, and I'm probably going to get some shit for saying that...
But that's just my opinion. I hope that people understand that.
Re: Rumor: Axl and Slash at same hotel in NYC?

Never thought of him as a reliable source. Sure, he might be in cahoots with the band's inner circle, but he'll tell us whatever they want him to tell us. He's there propaganda tool, which makes him about as reliable as Joseph Goebbels... (harsh analogy, not calling him a Nazi, but you get the drift).
As for the comments about the business side of things: I don't reckon that would be a (legal) problem. It's perfectly possible for a company to modify it's shareholder structure while maintaining their existing contracts as they are. Slash buys himself into "GNR Inc.", stipulates some extra constraints ("Only Axl will be liable for the Chinese Democracy costs", etc...) and the deal with interscope/geffen/universal/god-knows-who remains as it is. Not difficult at all, if they can work things out internally, that is .
