The Numbers Station: some B movie type with John Cusack.  Watchable but nothing else.  Cusack's one of those actors that I didn't realize how much I actually liked.  There's a littany of films like High Fidelity, Grosse Point Blank, Being John Malkovich, that I really like.

Same with Nicholas Cage, I finally watched 8MM a while back.  And it's a really solid/great film.  Joquain Phoenix was also great in that as Cage's guide into LA underground porn scene.  Cage gets shit on because he now does all types of films for money.  He's a great actor...you just have to sift through the amount of crap he's done.

Uncut Gems was ok. My brother really liked it, I guess I thought it'd be better.  Last year wasn't a great year for Movie Of The Year contenders, although most of us seemed like pretty big Tarantino fans, he delivered.

He deserved to have a better career. Unlike other major actors from the 80s, the breakout role to send him to the next level never materialized.

Same with Eric Stoltz. He was actually set up for superstardom with the 1-2 punch of Mask and Back to the Future....a dramatic, critically acclaimed role with a blockbuster. BTTF was pulled out from under him and the rest is history....

I dunno, some BTTF clips leaked on youtube a few years ago, and i gotta say, he wasnt a fit. He just looked shell shocked or outta place. He almost ruined Pulp Fiction. He maybe was good in the overdose scene but definitely wasnt believable in my mind as a heroin dealer. Sometimes tho Tarantino intentionally miscasts people tho it seems, so myb it was that.

He's probably a good actor for the right part, but those two werent it.

He got pigeonholed as a romantic comedy guy which didn't help.

Speaking of actor's from the 80s, does Mickey Rourke get overlooked now?  He has a ton of great/decent films from the 80s.  I watched Prayer for the Dying the other day.  He pulled off an Irish accent pretty well.  Year of the Dragon (got pacing issues though) and Angel Heart are pretty good too.

I'm thinking about digging into Charlie sheen's filmography as well.  A while back I watched a pretty good film of his The Boys Next Door, sort of a precursor to Natural Born Killers and Kalifornia (probably Pitt's best acting performance).  I think I liked it more than Natural Born Killers, it seemed more authentic and it portrayed the bleakness of small town USA in the 80s.

Mickey Rourke went about what....20 years without a decent film?

That's why he's overlooked. A generation grew up barely knowing of his existence.

Uncut Gems - I put off watching this because of Adam Sandler. I can't stand him. I place him in the same category with Richard Gere, Ben Affleck, etc.

It was great. Finally a movie of his I can stomach. It's like he was born to play that character. Worthy of an Oscar nom.

Throw Momma from the Train - This never gets old. Perfect casting all around.

Into the Wild -  Didn't like it. I couldn't relate or sympathize with the guy. It was all his own fault. Was surprised to see Kristen Stewart in this.... another actor I can't stand.

The Great Outdoors - It's worse than I remember. Only a few funny scenes. The teenage son is really unlikable and the local girl he likes isn't any better. When they're onscreen it kills the flow.

IT part 1 & 2 - What a chore to get through. This is one of those King stories that just doesn't translate to film.

lol wow forgot about that movie. It definitely didn't receive much support after its first weekend or two it seems. Was that out before Covid? Ashame its bad, she was really good in Suicide Squad. The movie sucked but she was a bit of a bright spot

Yeah, it was before covid. It didn't make its money back so they claimed the audience was sexist. No, it was just awful. What a waste of Black Mask.

I watched The Irishman again last night. It was even better this time. Pacino really hit a home run with his portrayal of Hoffa.

Considering his age, probably his last home run.
