Randall, I think we're agreeing, even people who are taking the money instead of working would prefer a higher wage, and are only taking it now while they can.

It's amusing how 2 years ago Andrew Yang was considered wacky for suggesting a base income to all, yet here we are.

The discussion we're having right now is what makes Yang's proposal inconceivable to me. We're gonna give everyone a base income but we're not going to raise the minimum wage? We're gonna give everyone a base annual income but we think a waitress doesn't deserve $55k per year.

These thoughts are too dissonant to me. Plus. What will they do when they start calling this socialism? Americans are to propagandized to ever go for this...at least not for one more generation.

As more wealth funnels to the ultra rich and jobs become shittier and lower paying...you'll still have the fat old POS at your local diner waving his fist and telling us how lazy we all are...

Shocking....Republicans no longer seem interested infrastructure Bill.

It’s like Lucy and Charlie Brown with the football.

They’re running out the clock until the mid terms. That’s the only goal here.

How do you negotiate with people who refuse to raise any taxes, refuse to take on debt and won’t vote for it anyway?

Mitch, this is EXACTLY what Democrats did. They stopped a stimulus/recovery bill where Trump was pushing $2,000 checks! They wanted to funnel hundreds of billions to blue state governments and liberal groups so Pelosi stalled it until after the election. And it's exactly what they did. They stopped a police reform bill from even being brought up for a vote simply because they didn't want to give him a victory. And it amazes me people are treating Liz Cheney as a hero. She's a war hawk, she still thinks Iraq was a great idea. She's the very caricature of a heartless, greedy right winger -- she's being replaced by a moderate (who actually hated Trump) who wants to give dreamers a path to citizenship, which Cheney doesn't.

And, it's not exactly the way the media is portraying it. Republicans protected her once before, very easily, but warned her to stop talking about Trump, stop going on tv talking about Trump, the less he's talked about the better it is for Republicans in certain districts, but she wouldn't stop. There's a great politico article about how disliked she is, and it has nothing to do with Trump. I say good riddance.

What does how well liked she is have to do with anything? Ted Cruz is despised, Mitch is loathed...as long as you toe the line for dipshit Trump, everything is forgiven. Her only crime here is that she speaks out against Trump. I'm not calling her a hero. I'm enjoying the Republicans eat themselves to suck up to Trump.

They're not eating each other anymore than dems, it's just the media/news sources you consume (you're not hearing the war among the dems about ending the $300 extended unemployment benefits, or about reopening schools, Israel, immigration, fiilibuster, D.C. Statehood, etc.).  And it matters because McConnell (who is not loathed by Republicans, btw) and Cruz do not put themselves in these positions.

The majority of waitresses don't want a raised minimum wage because they make more in tips and don't want that screwed with. Subsidizing wages makes more sense than treating small town businesses as if they were in NYC, especially as we approach an AI, Automation crisis for employment. These jobs you want to pay 55k a year for are being replaced by kiosks and robotics and mobile orders. That will only accelerate that. A lot of what you're saying is just hyperbole/ranting about old fat guys in diners and not worth getting pulled into an argument over.

Yes...I'm aware of those things. I choose to pay no attention to it bc schools will reopen and there's nothing they can do about it. Extended unemployment is going away even Biden says...not worth attention. The filibuster things ain't happening so why spend time on that? DC Statehood I support.

Cruz and McConnell don't put themselves in these positions? How do you figure? Cruz didn't acknowledge the election results...officially.

All of this shit just ain't happening...so why bother?

AI will take a lot of jobs and those that don't adapt will quietly go fuck themselves. That's how we do things in this country.

I've seen these old fat guys bitch about this shit every day. Guys who got used up and spit out because this country doesn't value labor. Now...out of bitterness they want to see it happen to others. These aren't well thought out...it's basic human impulse. There is no deeper meaning here...

While all these people fight over who gets an extra dollar, all the dollars are being taken. It's quite funny really...

Dude, you're just... Exhausting. Yeah, it's not happening because the dems are fighting each other over it.

That's a shit answer, and exactly why I'm not getting dragged into that stupid argument.

Whatever....did you have a point by changing the topic into had bad the Dems are...

No one here needs you to restate the obvious repeatedly.

Either you adapt as labor or you’re up shit creek. No one gives a shit about them except pandering Budweiser commercials.
