^^ Hey everything else was pretty close with NIN.
Granted, there are similarities to Trent there, but he always recorded solo under the NIN banner. There may have been guest musicians on the records, but they've never been considered an integral part of 'Studio NIN' the way Trent and producers Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder have been. I'll also give you the breakup he had with TVT Records and if you really want to push it, you might get away with calling Richard Patrick's Filter a new band of an ex-member. However, Patrick joined NIN Live post-Pretty Hate Machine.
No hard feelings, right?
No right answer as of yet, although inspired choices (Boy George? 
).
It's a UK band, btw. The Cure-era, basically.
