Re: Pop Quiz: What band?
And I'd disagree that the Cure was an excellent answer. haha sorry Neemo. But the Cure is Robert Smith and whoever chooses or he chooses to work with him at any given time. The Cure never stopped and has toured and released albums consistently their(his) entire career(2 soon to be 3 this decade). Robert was never on any self imposed exile or anything like that and he works with former bandmates quite regularly. Haha I'm just ranting here but I didn't see any simliarities to the Cure and the description given other than the band is touring without a new album for now(but it's coming). The Smiths though is bang on I think.
robert smith "attempted" to retire a few times
and the whole thing that the cure is robert is exactly why i thought it may be him i didnt realize that they had released a couple albums recently
i think depeche mode has released one recently as well

Locomotive98 got it!
The Sisters of Mercy and Andrew Eldritch!
Cool! Didnt know that there was such a ludicrous Axlish story to them though.
Used to love those guys back in my miserable teenage years. I'm now revisiting them thanks to GTA4 and the use of Dominion whilst gunning people down.... Ah happy days.

haha! Only once Robert wanted to retire. But the feeling in the studio when recording Bloodflowers was too great and the band was too tight. He couldnt' see stopping when they were still so good. Thank God.
And yeah Depeche Mode released Playing the Angel a few years ago.
Re: Pop Quiz: What band?
Von, I knew you'd know. That's why it's good you came in the late in the game.
And some people think the November Rain video is excessive...
Bono, The Cure got the genre, the country and the decade right. All they lacked was that Robert Smith has been keeping busy and is actually quite eager to cooperate on the next album release with Geffen, allowing them a single disc release with their mix, while releasing his own double-disc with his own mix on a regular price. Imagine Axl being so lenient!
Loco, FOTN's another good choice, although Carl McCoy has (again) released albums since the early 90's. I kinda like his solo album while recording as 'The Nefilim'... Best produced piece in his career, IMHO.

Yeah, I remembered after I posted that Carl had been doing stuff as 'The Nefilim'. Good stuff.
Right, I'm off to listen to Floodland! Its been a while.
sic. - I heard that Doctor Avalanche from the Sisters of Mercy was supposed to replace Brain when he left. Any truth?
