Re: GN'R 2021 Tour Thread
Oh sure I’m all for smaller venues, I just dislike the amphitheater experience. Might just be the area I’m from (Boston) where our main amphitheater is a pain to get to and the overall experience blows.
Hate to quote myself but thinking about my original point…
I think before they downgrade the size of venue they play in North America they’ll do the baseball stadiums with a viable second act. Alice in Chains? That would sell, and GnR would still be the main act every night.
Edit: meant to quote when I was wondering what the market was for them after going football stadium to arena (shortly after), then the baseball stadiums.

I hate amphitheaters too. I'll always regret going to Shoreline in 91 instead of Arco Arena.
I don't know how much longer they can tour in any size stadiums. It's no longer a hot ticket. It's not a must see event like it was in 2016-17.
They might get lucky on the upcoming leg thanks to the pandemic and people wanting to go back to normal. After that, it's arenas or nothing.
Re: GN'R 2021 Tour Thread
How well did the 2021 gigs do? Empty blocks of seats or sellouts?
A lot of people are starved for entertainment and live events. If they can cobble together even a four or five song EP of studio tracks for sale on Amazon, in stores, etc. it would be newsworthy.
Give us a proper retail release of “Hard Skool,” “Absurd,” “Atlas,” “Perhaps,” and “The General.” We know “Atlas” and “Perhaps” would be well received by audiences and the press. “The General” has been described as a great track although I hope the purported lyrics are wrong. Who the hell wants to sing along with that grim shit?
If they do so before the tour kicks off they will capture the imagination of all of us as well as casual fans.
Re: GN'R 2021 Tour Thread
It´s based on a phone recording from a GNR VIP afterparty. They played The General during that afterparty (i guess it was in 2010) and someone recorded a part of the song. These are the lyrics:
[Chorus]
Do you remember who did it?
Who did that to you...
Who would do this to you?
Who would do this to you? To the young!
Who would do that to me, boy?
Up to abuse, in fact you knew them
Who wants to lose?
To lose
Do you?
[Verse]
I've got hopes and dreams, and I must feel bolder
My hopes, my dreams have died
Now I rest my hate in the rumors as they're pushin' through
There's a child now chained to the bed now
To me it's time I'm always workin' and I'm gonna get out
I think it's high time you should fuckin' die, child
I think this time you've broken everything inside
I won't be ever satisfied
This is why, baby, you know I got you
[Chorus]
Do you remember who did it?
Who did, that to you...
Who would do this, to you?
Who would do this to you? To the young!
Who would that to me, boy?
Up to abuse, in fact we knew them
Who wants to lose?
To lose
Do you?

You mean these lyrics come from that same phone recording that was so bad that you could hardly hear the melody?

Bingo! I never understood the hype about this song. It might be an amazing song, but we haven't really heard it..
