Re: An interesting stat
Maddy's more cohesive than myself today (I blame the fever), but we're sitting on the same fence here.
ps on the flip side, I do think Axl has killed whatever buzz CD may have had over the past years. People simply don't believe him or anyone when it comes to the release of this record and are over the rumors-even casual fans. The boy who cried wolf syndrome. However, that doesn't mean when the album is actually formally released that people won't care. There is a subtle difference there.
In retrospect, '06 comes about as Axl's 'do or die' stand against Universal, trying to put up a buzz to force a contract for a release. Of course, Uni decides to call his bluff, and we all know how the story ended. That's partly why Axl's lying low this time around, letting Azoff & Gould deal with Universal. He'll talk, tour and all that once they have the record company on their side. Then there will be buzz, because some of the best and brightest of the industry will join in to push CD to the masses.
It'll be an interesting thing to follow, but I reckon I'll mostly steer clear from any 'official' msg boards and whatnot. How much Axl antics can one man take, really?

When CD is released this forum can go into lockdown mode and block new members from signing up At the very least Id like it to be invitation-only or pay-per-(new)-membership but will have to discuss it with JL and DTJ.
We're the ones who have suffered for the last decade and not having any regulars unable to access the forum because of n00b overload A majority left mygnr etc because of the lack of thorough discussion and not having that happen here. At least, I dont want that to happen here.
Re: An interesting stat
I am certainly willing to entertain the possibility of closing down the site to new members once this train leaves the station. I stopped being a "regular" at HTGTH in 06 because of the huge influx of dipshit noobs. I'm not saying every new forum member is a dipshit, but a high percentage are. They bring the quality of a site down thats for sure.
I have no pie in the sky dreams of this site being as big as HTGTH(and neither do any of you), so a closed membership for the current group and whoever stumbles in here is certainly something that would be "on the table".
Re: An interesting stat
I prefer smaller boards...the more numbers, the more idiots and the idiots are always a lot louder than the regular folks. Furthermore, we have enough varying opinions on this board to keep us arguing for awhile-with or without anything new to discuss.
Re: An interesting stat
To make a more even fight, I'll go for Rock Am Ring '06.

Better has an impressive count. It goes to show that people are in fact interested when it's available. If CD got a couple more catchy tunes like that it could very well become a 'success', in that it would avoid becoming a total laughing stock. You've seen what Bono's said of his club experiments, people are under the right circumstances very inclined to embracing a rewamped gn'r, if promoted properly and all that crap that people fuck up.
Unless we're in 2013 of course, and still no album. When nobody over 31 are allowed to be on tv, and nobody remembers radio. We know that could very well happen too, with this big pink elephant.
So...we're back to where we were, playing the waiting game(s).
Yeah, close the boards when it happens. And I don't just mean for new members, close it all. Shut it down. Cause if we're still hanging here when CD arrives...it would just be patethic really.
Which goes on to prove you shouldn't blame a Uno for not being a Ferrari, even though they're both under Fiat.
Very neat.
