Here's my interpretation of #2. Which judging by the lyrics, could very well be prostitute.

It sounds like Axl is singing "the" rather than "a".
I'm sorry if people don't like it, but that's what I'm hearing.

Wow... Dave, Rex and I agree on song lyrics! 
"Like forever and a day" is an expression. "Like forever and the day" is not, and really doesn't make sense.
Also, with how cheesy this opening is, it has to be forever and a day.

You know what, I was gonna say I thought I heard something like bring me down, but after listening many times I don't hear "bring" either. I hear ______ me down. "Bring" would make the most sense but I just don't hear that.

Just listened to that part a couple more times and i for sure hear "Bring you down".
The way he's singing it, it really sounds like "Bring you down". Can't be "bring me down."
Well I'll agree with you that I definitely don't hear "prostitute" or anything like that. ELO once uttered the words "bring me down", why can't Axl? I'm still hearing it that way. Either way, I think we're on the right track. Let's put this "Prostitute" talk to rest.
