Re: Shackler's Revenge: REALLY confirmed

most of us have been through this kind of stuff before...many times
I think that we need to relax and see what happens. I refuse to get excited until somethign real develops. Nothing is official until we get a statement from Universal saying that the album has a release date
anything else is smoke and mirrors
Well, I've been following since about 2000, and I've seen stuff many times as well, but it's never been like this. So I think there's a lot to be excited over. And if nothing happens its not the end of the world. It's not like waiting on a job promotion or your girls due date.
edit: What I mean is, I'm used to being let down, its part of the gig, but its not bad to get excited about it. But the album looks real promising right now. And no big deal if it doesn't pan out.
And thanks to the GNR historical society.
I remember Robin saying in that radio interview long ago that he didn't play on OMG but I guess he was wrong. And I thought Paul was never a real member of GNR.

Isn't that what the Harley ad said about Better? I wouldn't get excited no matter what is says, but that's just me.
That's why I'm holding back a little too, this is definitely all very promising, but so was the Harley ad. I suppose at the very least we'll get a new track out of this at some point whether it be a leak or it actually appears on RB2. Ultimately we're all hoping this is the beginning of the CD wheels turning but past experience has taught me/us not to get too carried away....yet.
True that.
The Better/Harley add was the perfect vehicle to launch the marketing for Chinese Democracy but it [the opportunity] was pissed away. While this newest buzz isn't as powerful as the potential its predecessor had there is no doubt it could still prove successful. Opportunities are running out and the newest attempts at trying to regain the "buzz" have proven to be less potent. This may very well be the last chance for this album to create any type of excitement, another failure to deliver will (in my opinion) be the end of the whole mess.

E3 2008: Rock Band 2 Complete Track List Revealed
Guns N' Roses to debut new single! Plus, 83 other tracks to keep you rockin' late into the night and into the early morning.
by Hilary Goldstein
July 14, 2008 - Last year, Rock Band was the only music game that enabled users to play as a full-fledged band. Things are different this year with Konami's Rock Revolution and, more dauntingly, Guitar Hero World Tour. Ultimately, no amount of features or new equipment is going to matter. The real winner will be whichever game has the best track list. Harmonix and MTV must be fully aware of this fact, because today, the two released the full 84-song set list. Judging by the impressive list, Konami and Activision have reason to worry. This is easily the greatest assemblage of music in a game to date.
The big jaw-to-the-floor announcement is that Guns N' Roses is set to debut a new song from the long-awaited album Chinese Democracy. It's not just that Rock Band 2 has GNR -- it has new GNR and effectively announces the imminent arrival of the band's oft-delayed album. Guns N' Roses' "Shackler's Revenge" is just the tip of the iceberg for a track list that features far more greats (Bob effin' Dylan!) than stinkers (Linkin effin' Park?!).
Joining GNR and Dylan are such surprises as Tenacious D, Pearl Jam, Beck, Talking Heads, and The Replacements. The list isn't so focused on spreading across decades as it is spanning genres. There's a lot more heavy metal this time around and the music from the '60s is better focused (and lacking the horror that is Green Tides and High Grass). Perhaps the only head scratcher is the inclusion of Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky," which most will recognize as an overused sports anthem.
Ah, but as great as this list may be, you love your old RB1 tracks and just don't want to give them up. Fear not. All downloadable content will work with Rock Band 2 and gamers can export tracks from Rock Band 1 to RB2. That's right -- from day one you can bring all RB1 tracks into RB2 to compliment your DLC as long as you own a PS3 or an Xbox 360 with a hard drive.
And there's more. Harmonix actually wanted to toss in 100 tracks total for the disk, but couldn't get them all in one time to ship for Xbox 360 by September. So this fall, MTV is releasing an additional 20 downloadable master tracks... for free. By year's end this will mean RB fans will have access to more than 500 songs.
That is the sound of Activision gulping.
Check out the full list of tracks. Note that all tracks on RB2 are master recordings. There are 75 tracks from famous artists, plus nine bonus tracks from various bands that feature members of Harmonix.

Re: Shackler's Revenge: REALLY confirmed
didnt axl say at rock in rio "without paul....there would be no mroe guns n roses" ?
surely that made him as much of a member (at the time) than anyone else
I might be wrong, Neemo would know for sure, but I think he meant that it was his
support to Axl. Because it was an interview where Slash said Huge was his biggest
problem with Axl and the whole Sympathy For The Devil thing and Axl said that
Paul didn't want to be in the band and that he was just helping out.
Re: Shackler's Revenge: REALLY confirmed
The Replacements as well! Tommy actually has a writing credit on their track "Alex Chilton". I wonder if the Gnr camp helped out with that? Ironic that the song selected has a Tommy writing credit as most of their catalog is just credited to Westerberg. That particular album, Pleased to Meet Me is being re-released soon as well.:ummm: Sweet....a little Dylan is always nice as well.
