^ ok thanks. But i presume they are both the same album? So does it just mean that the 45 speed ones go faster so take more disks to get the same number of songs? Why then do people prefer a 45? Is there some reason it's better?

(Sorry to hijack the thread.)

I wonder how many different versions there will end up being of CD. I can see this getting expensive for me wink

I was just going to preorder both versions (since it's on sale...), but I'm not sure which BB I'll be picking it up at.

45's are smaller(and I suppose go faster too)  They're traditionally how singles used to be released.  I would assume the versions of these on 45 are just one or two songs per disk with more disks.

Why some people prefer 45's maybe somebody who's more of an audiophile than me can answer that.  I don't really know why these would cost so much, unless it's just novelty/limited edition things.

Years ago I bought the Yesterdays single on 45, I think it cost me $2.

Interesting, hard to say what the deal is.

Jorge76, I don't know of any sound advantage of a 45 vs a 33 rpm.  I do know that some people believe they hear a "warmer" sound from vinyl recordings (analog) vs our digital tastes of today.  While digital is much sharper and "cleaner" the vinyl analog recordings do have a less "harsh"  or "bright" sound.

In today's time, Special Editions are common to entice buyers to spend more money on albums, especially with an album as storied as CD, i'd be shocked if a Special Edition is not in the works in some form.

Whether it be HMV in Canada or Best Buy in the U.S., it might've been a company organized thing.

Like making a package that includes both CD & GH for like $14.99. Just a theory.

45s was the format used to release singles. They only contained two tracks. One side was the a side (single) and the other side was the b-side. I don't know if it is any better in regards to sound quality. I personally would find it tedious to own an album that was spread across 5 vinyls with one song to each side.
