i really never got the idea of releasing a first single 3 months before an album comes out. get the song out there, and then strike with the album while the iron is hot.

True, but Best Buy cannot be the scapegoat for this album. GNR are not even making an effort on anything. The only thing GNR accomplished during the promotion was losing a band member that Joe Blow never even knew existed.

I don't know, I haven't seen much done marketingwise that's been "brilliant" in regards to CD. Sounds like a good album from the leaks, CD's an alright track getting decent rotation, but I wouldn't expect this album to explode at first. Marketings been almost nil, and as far as 'word of mouth' advertising, well, put it this way, you get what you pay for.
