BLABBERMOUTH.NET has received word from a reliable source that RCA Records (a Sony BMG label) has dropped VELVET REVOLVER, the band featuring former GUNS N' ROSES members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum.
VELVET REVOLVER released two full-length albums through RCA/Sony BMG — 2004's "Contraband", which has sold 1.98 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan; and its follow-up, "Libertad", which has shifted 301,000 units in the U.S. since its July 2007 release.
VELVET REVOLVER has been looking for a new frontman since dismissing Scott Weiland back in April. Rumored candidates have included ex-SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach, former MTV VJ Steve Isaacs (THE PANIC CHANNEL) and ex-SPACEHOG vocalist Royston Langdon, who apparently had several successful rehearsal sessions with the band.
Weiland reunited with his previous act, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, and has spent the last few months on the road with them.
In a recent interview with MTV.com, Weiland said about the split with his previous band, "VELVET REVOLVER fell apart because there were too many big egos in the band — and I'm including myself. It wasn't necessarily about bad egos, just big egos, and unfortunately, it just mistakenly kind of eroded."

During all the Weiland stuff didn't they say they wouldn't actually keep the name VR anyway if they got a new singer? Maybe there is no band VR anymore?
Interesting development, there's a lot of theories floating around at the moment. I'm not really buying into them but this'll certainly add fuel to certain fires.

The Libertad record really should not have surfaced... That's just my opinion. It sounded too............
Words can't describe it really. With the band (remaining band members) dropped by RCA, I think VR is dead. They'll come back under a new name perhaps?

People bash Libertad but it's good songs are pretty good. It's just there is also a bunch of average stuff on there to go with the good ones and it got too scott heavy in sound. I think Slash and Duff and Matt should stick together and get some new members.

i was gonna ask the same thing....i sometimes wonder what the slash haters are gonna say if gnr ever reunites....and i never quite understood the hate for slash to begin with since he is large part of the sound on the majority of the songs that peopel like and that the current band have performed live in recent years
if there was one thing i could wish for is that peopel could accept both Axl and Slash as being incredibly talented musicians instead of trying to pick sides and bash the other...though i guess i can see where these peopel come from kinda cuz i used to be like that, if someone was an "enemy" of gnr then I hated them to...but i dunno nowadays? its cool to hear what both guys are doing and with luck one day their musical careers will cross paths again
thing is though, slash has been nothing but pleasant to Axl in the press in recent years
