Could it be Axl is the Chris Tucker of the music biz?

The reason he basically robbed Geffen at gun point over the years?

The reason it took so long for CD to come out?

Did he never want to work again after the Illusion tours finished?

He didn't retire, did he? He toured, recorded for himself, recorded for others, toured some more.

He may lack motivation, but I don't think he envisioned retiring.

Chris Tucker is a guy that's worth $60 million dollars, just for doing three films.

As for Axl, what about the possibility that he suddenly got "return fever", signed contracts for a new album, then suddenly lost interest? But he now had a legal committment.
