Re: "And now it seems that I, gave up my ghost of pride"
i was thinking about this lyric while listening to the song earlier...
does anyone else agree that this is Axl acknowledging that his lyrics in This I Love are sappy and lovey dovey? that's the impression that I get from this line. like he is reflecting on the song ("and now it seems that I") and realizing how cheesy the lyrics are, admits that he "gave up (his) ghost of pride" in the song.
what do you guys think?
Re: "And now it seems that I, gave up my ghost of pride"
I think he means he gave up the ghost or facade of what remained of his pride by further exposing his emotions throughout not only the lyrics of that track, but the album itself. The tough guy wearing his heart on his sleeve, so to speak. It's really a beautiful song.

gee thanks von solo! you're right.
i mean these are not typical Axl lyrics, childish rhymes, etc. and I just think that line at the end is himself admitting that "ya I just wrote a fucking quintessential love ballad for you at the cost of whatever I pride i had left."
