The less Axl talks, the less its known that he is the only remaining member. Dude has defrauded the public for years promoting this as "Guns N Roses" when he is the only member left of the original group.
If People think its "GNR" they will buy it where otherwise they may not.

Saul over at HTGTH (a real Buckethead connection) says the tour will be in place by Jan. He also said to expect album 2 by the end of 2009....Take it however you want. I would really like to see a theatre tour for Chinese where they play the whole album for diehards. It doesn't have to be a long drawn out tour....just something to properly promote this album and the musicians who made it.:buckethead:
He did not comment on whether or not Bucket would be involved.
Saul also mentioned on another board that three Better videos exist and thought we would see one of them soon.
This will be a first test of what he knows.

I understand Axl keeping his mouth shut let's him lead those not in the know to believing this is all original Gn'R...but I think this really hurts in the long run...
How can you release an album and be just as hidden as you ever were...It's as though no band exists right now...an album has been released with no band supporting it.

I support Neemo's position here. If there is indeed a tour in the works, the outlook from management may have been long term. Sell long and eat the one week bad press.
I hope it is true because this record is good enough to hang around for awhile.

Ive never posted on a GNR board but ive been waiting on this album, and watching the events unfold for the past 10 years. I was going to wait for the album to be dropped because thats the final arbitor of success of failure. I grew up on GNR, they are my favorite band. I now believe this album is going to be a failure. There will be an INITIAL "pop" in sales based upon the hype of the last ten years, but then sales will be based upon the album itself.
This album has its merits. I will say the lesson of Chinese Democracy is this: No matter how talented and technically proficient individual musicians may be-THIS DOES NOT A BAND MAKE. Thats why great bands are so rare. Not only does it take individual talent, it takes luck, in as much that these individual talents find each other and have CHEMISTRY-that can not be forced. Thats why great bands are rare, and individual talent is less rare. On my local station in Houston they had had a "cage match" last night between "Better" and a Shiny Toy Guns song. "Better" lost the match. This chick called in and said Better sounded "horrible." I when Appetite and UYI came out-this record isnt generating that kind of acceptance. But i really do hope im wrong, i wish GNR the best.

Thanks Neemo! I just found this board i had been lurking on the other board that is ruled by an "Iron Fist." There is no attempt at objectivity on that board. Like i said ive been waiting on this album for years but i have to render an objective account of it. It just does not sound like a band. I wanted to love this record but i can't.
I think after this initial pop in sales due to the curiosity factor it will die like "Oh My God" did. Im not a gloom and doomer, but i havent heard anyone like this material, besides the sycophants that would think anything axl put out would sound good. These are mostly young kids who werent around for the original band. So my prediction for charting is after this initial pop in sales, this thing is going down. Ive given this project the benefit of the doubt for a decade due to fairness and objectivity, i promised to wait on the final product to render a judgement. Desspite the fanboys who are claiming there are these great singles waiting to be unleashed on the world (besides the first single with no hooks and a weak riff) there are no big gun singles here. This project is not GNR, its not even a band. Ive never generated any negativity about this project and i hoped it would blow my mind and redefine rock music. I bought a ticket in 2002 for them Houston show and when they cancelled i still didnt complain. But i will render my own judgement, and so will the public.

i still believe that the chinese democracy thing is a long term, multi album plan....
what the hell are people gonna say about the 10+ year wait etc. when another 12-14 track volume 2 ends up on the shelves in less than a year?
"uh- oh.. maybe we were wrong about axl... maybe he DIDN'T spend all that time working on just 14 songs..."
then maybe... just maybe the naysayers won't be so quick to judge the record(s) on the time/money alone.
wouldn't it be easier to just stay on tour for the next few years putting out an album every year?

This is crazy....."another album?" And no, im not calling you crazy: a Question for everyone: If this album flops, how can he tour and either a)play new material nobody wants to hear, or b)play only old material people want to hear after "the most anticipated album of all time" is released and hes supposed to be touring to support it, but no body wants to hear it?
These 14 tracks should be the cream of the crop, i dont think another album is going to happen with this band.
The album album just isnt that good. I cant lie to myself. Besides, this entire thing is so unpredictable, its just bizzare. I mean, we have an entire band that are replacements for the replacements, no BH, and maybe Fink is gone and Brain to. With this being said is it fair to ask the question: "is this really a band?" At what point does this thing stop being a band? Is a band really a band when only one member is deemed irreplaceable? Does this lack of cohesiveness somehow translate into the music?
