Re: converting cassettes to digital
I borrowed my brothers old cassette deck he had for his old stacking system, I'm amazed he still has it. The tapes I want to convert are old live dj mixes of me from when I was young playing at local raves, so I cant get them anywhere except off me!
I've caved in and joined the facebook generation and been chatting with some of the guys from those days, it would be fun to share the tapes with them.

Re: converting cassettes to digital
Easy way was already been described above I think
Get a tape deck with an RCA out:
Then a cable that converts to headphone style connection
Plug into "line in" on your soundcard.
Record the signal using http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
If you have better soundcards/interfaces there might be higher quality ways or something, but that's the basic DYI method I think.
